Community Engages Leadership at Mayoral Imbizo

Msukaligwa Local Municipality, under the leadership of Executive Mayor, Alderwoman M.P Nkosi, hosted a Mayoral Imbizo at the Mpumalanga Stadium, bringing together residents from Wards 3, 4 and 6.

The Imbizo provided a platform for residents to raise concerns, ask questions, and engage directly with municipal leadership on key service delivery matters, ongoing programmes, and the implementation of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP).

Residents actively participated, sharing their experiences and challenges, ranging from water and electricity supply issues, road maintenance, waste management, and access to health and social services. Many also highlighted the need for support in small business development and local agriculture. Leadership responded to questions, provided clarity on municipal programmes, and noted community inputs that will inform future planning and interventions.

As part of efforts to empower communities, one beneficiary from each ward received start-up material to support small businesses (SMMEs) through the Department of Economic Development. Selected community members also received farming inputs, including materials and guidance on crop production, to promote food security and sustainable livelihoods.

A range of government departments and stakeholders were present on-site, ensuring that services were accessible to the community. These included the Departments of Home Affairs, Health, Social Development, Education, the IEC, Sithole Funerals, Nape Kunene, as well as local informal traders showcasing and selling handmade products such as charcoal and footwear.

Key issues raised during the engagement will inform ongoing municipal planning and service delivery interventions.

The Imbizo reflects the municipality’s continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsive governance.
