MSUKALIGWA OLDER PERSONS GEAR UP FOR 2026 ACTIVE AGEING GAMES

April 17, 2026,Msukaligwa Local Municipality, under the leadership of Executive Mayor, Alderwoman MP Nkosi, through its Transversal Section for Disability and Older Persons, continues to demonstrate its commitment to promoting dignity, inclusion, and active participation among older persons by supporting the Active Ageing Games.

 

As part of this support, the Municipality has provided branded T shirts to elderly participants, both men and women, from various older persons’ centres across Msukaligwa. This gesture promotes unity, allows for easy identification of participants, and ensures that older persons are equipped to take part comfortably and confidently in the programme.

 

The 2026 Active aging games will take place on 13 May 2026 at AJ Swanepoel in Ermelo, where local municipalities across the district will come together for this annual event that promotes healthy living, fitness, and social cohesion among older persons. The programme begins at local level, with selected participants progressing to represent their municipalities at district level and beyond.

 

Through this support, Msukaligwa Local Municipality reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that older persons are not only included, but meaningfully supported to participate with pride, comfort, and a strong sense of belonging in community programmes.
