MUNICIPALITY STRENGTHENS WASTE MANAGEMENT WITH NEW SKIP BINS

Msukaligwa Local Municipality has strengthened its waste management capacity with the official handover of a brand-new Waste Skip Loader and skip bins during a ceremony held on 03 July 2026 at the Waste Management Site on Ennis Street, next to SPAR.

 

The handover brought together Executive Mayor Alderwoman MP Nkosi, Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs), councillors, municipal management and officials, highlighting the municipality's continued commitment to improving service delivery and promoting a cleaner, healthier environment for all residents.

 

The new Waste Skip Loader forms part of the municipality's fleet and will support the Community and Social Development Department in transporting and servicing skip bins across identified communities. This collaborative effort will strengthen waste management operations and improve the municipality's ability to respond more efficiently to waste collection needs.

 

The skip bins will be strategically placed at identified locations throughout the municipality to provide residents with convenient and accessible waste disposal points. Their placement is expected to improve waste management services, discourage illegal dumping and contribute to cleaner, safer and healthier communities.

 

Illegal dumping remains a challenge in many communities, negatively affecting the environment, public health and the overall appearance of neighbourhoods. The introduction of the Waste Skip Loader and skip bins forms part of the municipality's ongoing efforts to improve waste management services while encouraging residents to dispose of waste responsibly and make proper use of the facilities provided.

 

During the handover, Executive Mayor Alderwoman MP Nkosi reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to investing in infrastructure and municipal resources that support efficient service delivery. She encouraged residents to make responsible use of the skip bins, protect municipal assets and work together with the municipality to keep communities clean.
